MAY teaching series

There are injustices all around us. We see injustice in big ways, in small ways, in the world around us, and in our own experiences. In this series, we’ll help students see that God cares deeply about fighting injustice. Then we'll help them discover how they can respond in Jesus’ name to injustice by working to right the wrongs they encounter in their lives, their world, and even in their own hearts.

APRIL teaching series

For some people, the Easter story is a little unclear. (It has something to do with Jesus dyeing Easter eggs with a rabbit, right?) For others, we've heard the Easter story, seen the Easter plays, and attended Easter services so many times that it has almost become white noise. In this Easter series, we hope to challenge students' assumptions and attitudes about the Easter story as we help them see that the story of Jesus' death and resurrection is more than just a story—it's true! And it's good news for the entire world.

New Series for a New Year!

Throughout January we are going to be taking some time to learn about, and from, the hurts we experience. Life can often be a difficult journey. Sometimes it's difficult because of the choices we've made, but other times it's difficult because of circumstances beyond our control. Through this series, we hope to look at our pain in a new way. By studying the book of Exodus and the stories of Moses and the Israelites, we'll see that God can turn our pain into progress by growing us, preparing us, purifying us, and uniting us. We hope you'll make it a priority to jump right in and invest in your relationship with God and friends.

Focusing on Family Dynamics in April

We’re teaching a series during April called "Modern Families" that we hope will be relatable and practical for everyone. We will look at a few families we read about in Scripture and talk about how there are no perfect families, but at the same time, no family conflict is too big for God.
We will also talk about the fact that, when your family changes, God remains your center, and also remind everyone that your family is bigger than you think . . . i.e. the family of God.
As always, thank you for the opportunity to serve YOUR family!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Late summer into early fall is my favorite time of year. Warm days and cool evenings, football season is about to go down and the new school year coincides with a new season of ministry and a lot of great opportunities.  This fall of 2017, in particular, comes with some fresh updates in studentLIFE - including new branding - see above.
The names ELEVATE and PULSE have, over the last 9+ years become synonymous with a specific time & place when & where students meet . . . and we have sensed a need to be more about ongoing, flexible, adaptable, active ministry.
Grades 6-8 will still meet regularly in the student lounge on Sunday mornings at 11a (with a few fun things mixed in), and grades 9-12 will get together with more variety of locations & times . . . in the student lounge, in homes and active as missional communities.
We will be emphasizing studentLIFE more as a whole - with the subtitles of "middle6to8" and "high9to12" when appropriate.  The names ELEVATE and PULSE are being retired "with honors" and lots of great memories.  SEEKERS (confirmation) and SHARE (missions/serving) are still in play.
On Kickoff Sunday, Sept 10, middle schoolers will start a teaching series called "How to Survive Middle School" and high schoolers will start with "IDK" which tackles some of life's toughest questions that many times come with the answer "I Don't Know."  We encourage all of our students to jump right in and bring friends, as always. If you have any questions about anything, please email me ( or call my office phone (908 647 0340 #118).
