It's Go Time . . .

The packing is almost finished and then we're off on Saturday, heading for Niagara Falls, NY to make people's homes warmer, safer and drier. 60 of our students and leaders will become part of a group of 300 that will be serving people and working on home repair and improvement projects. We're looking forward to an amazing time and to what God is going to do in and through the lives of all involved. Giving ourselves away . . . obviously. Living life together . . . a blast. Connecting the disconnected . . . the love of God shown in a very tangible way. Please be praying with us Sat, June 27 - Sat, July 4.

Summer Thoughts

The summer affords us a lot of down time where we can learn alot about ourselves and others. Once on a hot July night I was messing around on my block with some older kids and at first everything was cool. But as the night progressed we started to more and more stupid things. Around 9:30 one of the older kids produced some fireworks. Not some but a garbage bag full. As we began firing them off I thought to myself this is so cool, what a great night, these guys are cool, they realy are thinking about me and I think that I can trust them. About 9:45 the police came and we all scettered. I wound up hiding in the bushes on the side of a house with one of the new friends that I have made and thought was so cool. As the police turned the corner 2 things happened. 1 I realized that I was going to be in alot of trouble and I was not feeling well. 2 the friend that I was hiding out with had left and I was all alone. Out of the five of us, I was the only one that got cought. After sitting in the back of the police car and my parents comming out to claim me from the police I had to face my parents. I do not think that my parents spoke to me for a week and I stayed in my room for at least that long. When they finally spoke to me the topic was not all about the fact I was brought home by the police but the fact that I made a stupid choice. Fortunate for me I had a sister that was getting in more trouble than me and the summer was not lost.
The point is that I made a stupid choice that could have had a bad ending. At that time in my life I had not givin my life to Christ and thought I could do this alone. The reality is the simple passage from Matthew 9:9 "As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Mattew at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Mattew got up and followed."
This is a great passage because of 2 words "Follow me". They are challenging words that echo in my head every day.
Take some time this summer when its quiet and there is nothing to do and think to yourselves "Follow me". Its not about stuff you want, its not about friends or getting ready for a new school year, its about God and and a great question that he asks us all the time. Will you "Follow me" this summer.
Peace,
Andrew

Romans 5:6-8
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a rightous man, though for a good man someone might possible dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I know that this is long but if you take your time there is a lot to unpack here. Any questions or comments please call or text us.

Some Thoughts from Devotional Today

Hello All,
I found this quote during my devotional this morning. This is from a man named Cotton Cordell. "Teach a kid about GOD, Hunting and Fishing and no drug dealer in the world can ever touch them". I do not know how many of you know how to hunt or fish but I hope that you take the time to learn about God. We are trying to help you find ways of spending time with God and experiencing all that is good in his world.
I have found in my life there are two places that bring me extreemly close to God. When I go hunting its cool that I get to carry a gun and wear cool clothes. However with the gun and clothes comes the responsibility of safety. Thats where the goofy orange hat comes in. If I do not wear the hat I risk the chance of being shot or worse being killed. In your life at school or out with friends do you wear the orange hat that helps you to stand out for God or do you just try to fit in to pass the time? The other aspect of hunting is that you need to be extreemly quiet. I hate quiet! But when I am quiet I can hear, see and feel God even more than if I were to run wild and may be see a couple of signs along the way. Where do you find complete quiet for God?
Fishing is whole different way that I have learned to experience God. There two types of fishing. Back country which is a lot like hunting requiring total silence while tracking the fish and ocean fishing. I prefer ocean fishing because its a lot like life. I go out into the ocean at the start of the day and all is well with my life and by the end of the day there could be a storm approaching with the ocean kicking up 10 foot seas. 10 foot seas is not fun especially when you are responsible for the safety of all aboard. That is usually in life where I look to God. Our life is spinning and it feels like we are going under. But if I take the time when the seas are calm and look out realizing how grand God's world is and praise him for it, the rough times will be easier to navigate. Do you take the time to see God's world or do you wait until things are not going so good for you?
